Hey Everyone! This is Tim Cash. Summer is here! And to start it all off we have a brand new Music Video out for Central Oregon based rock/metal band OPEN FATE! I had a wonderful fun time working with the guys who all brought their A Game! We pretty much shot the whole video in a day starting at the FFE homestead Studio just outside of Bend and then running around town for the rest. Hope to work with these guys again! I loved creating a movie-like piece to their music and pay homage to some old 90’s music videos I grew up watching! Hope you all enjoy!
This is definitely a milestone for me and my company FFE FILMS! …and in celebrating that I decided to shoot a FAN VIDEO for Brett Dennen! It seemed like a natural idea as I was watching my 5 year old sing and dance to Brett Dennen’s latest album “Smoke and Mirrors” The song “When We Were Young” seemed like the perfect fit for a concept where the kids could act out the performance of the song in a cool setting. A week later we didi it and as luck would have it it just so happened to be my 100th! So proud of the kids for their job well done in the piece! Hope you like!
Well, at the beginning of 2013 I made one of the biggest gambles of my career to stay ahead of the competition. The goal to spend alomost 20,000 on a RED camera and instead of raising my prices with an included huge jump in quality….just shoot more music videos!! After many heart palpitations in the beginning and a successful first half of the year the camera was PAID OFF!! Shwoo, talk about feeling blessed!
It all started in december of 2013 when a call from the Jamaican artist management company Oufah Media requested to shoot 2 more music videos for their premier artist OMI. We had shot 2 music videos for him in the summer of 2012. and I rented the RED which came with a DP, costing several thousand dollars. when it came time to spend several thousand dollars again and a huge price drop on the RED from $40,000 all in to just under $20,000 I had to take a chance and see what happens!
The result was the most successful year to date. Maybe not monetarily but definitely in popularity. With 3 #1 music videos on Hype Tv in Jamaica as well as several articles in newspapers and magazines the word is getting out! Some people may not understand. Especially ones who have been in the film business for years. I’m the a^&hole bringing prices to the floor and shutting down studios left and right….or people like me….I cant take all the credit..:)
Its the 21st century where one man can create visuals on par with hollywood teams…well thats debateable of course. but we try and get as close as possible!

Hey this is Tim Cash with Far From Earth! The other day I woke up and wanted to write a song about my kids…its a diddy more than a song actually. I didnt expect when I poured my cup of joe that morning that when I went to bed I would have a recorded “diddy” and a music video to go with. I guess when the creative juices flow they flow like a river! Anyway, enough said. i share with a tribute to “My 2 Boys”
I had the great pleasure of working with Brad Jones on this simple little piece! Shot at the Old Stone church in Bend oregon with actos Jared Rasic, Micahel Coffman, Yuvia Storm,Robert Slaney, Katie scott and even I got to star in this one! Shot on the RED by Tim Cash
I know its tough to be able to afford a big music video! Well there are always other options. I’ve never really promoted these prices before but I figured I ought to start. Sometimes simple and cinematic is all it takes to take it to the next level! I offer the one thousand dollar music video. Whats that mean well. That means you get me, the red and a camera crane in an epic loction for a few hours. like 2-4 hours with set up and break down with edit! Wonder what that looks like? here are a # of them from the past few years. Lets make art! come hang out with me, Tim cash and make a music video!

Hi again everyone! Tim Cash of Far from Earth Films and Far From Earth Creative here in Bend Oregon. Well had the chance to put my new RED Scarlet to the test as it arrived just days before 2 BIG Music video shoots for Jamaican pop sensation Omi. We shot one of the videos at regular speed 24fps at 4k and it looks gorgeous! But the other music video I wanted to try something a little different. In the past I’ve experimented with variable frame rates for singing shots. shooting at 36fps and having the talent sing the song at a sped up 150% and I’ve also done 18fps. and had them sing to the song at 75%. when put into a 24 fps timeline each look is different but adds drama. slowmo singing or sped up singing. but this was the first time I decided to shoot an entire music video at 12fps. and have the singer sync to a 50% slowed down version of the song.then edit at 24fps. the result is a highly animated sped up look and we got away with 5k on the Scarlet! not stills but video. I’m sure someone has shot 5k video on the Scarlet but anyway….we are releasing the video today and I’ll be sure to post it up on this post as soonas we release it!!
I Everyone! Far From Earth Films, Tim Cash. just catching a breath here after a long week of production. Have had the pleasure of hosting Oufah Media from Jamaica in Bend Oregon on what has been the coldest days of the year for a full fledged winter flick titled “TAKE IT EASY”! One of the biggest pieces to telling this adventure story has been helicopter shots! I’ve never had the budget to hire a heli- pilot and cinematographer before but felt for the story we were trying to tell and the vast scope of wilderness we were dealing with was only coverable from a chopper. We shot in the Deschutes National Forest right up near Mt Bachelor, A ski area 22 miles outside of Bend. As Omi travels deeper and deeper into the wilderness he finds what he’s been searching for. We also captured shots at a cave near by and at the FARfromEARTH STUDIO here in Bend.
The 2nd music video “FIREWORKS” was shot entirely at the FFE studio and included some set building which was great as we really got to control the light . we also experimented with some frame rates at 12fps at 5k on the RED.
Just pulled the new RED SCARLET X CAMERA out of the box and started filming. the dynamic range is amazing. especially coming from the 5d. things look sharper and more detailed. the shadows show through amazing. what would have been totally lost is right there infront of your eyes. Anyway with no one nearby to capture I turned the camera on myself and recorded this in 6 takes from 6 different angles. and that pretty much filled up the new 64GB card and I was off to the edit! let me know what you think! have a wonderful day from Tim Cash at Far from Earth films
